STARTCOOKING.COM LAUNCHES TIPS & TRICKS VIDEO SERIES TO HELP EVERYONE LEARN THE BASICS OF COOKING

Boston (July 9, 2007) - Kathy Maister is a woman on a mission to show everyone that they too can learn to cook. Her popular StartCooking Video Podcast has just launched a new series Tips & Tricks videos that teach the most basic of cooking skills from boiling an egg, to how to brown ground beef. Don't know how to cook white rice? No worries. StartCooking.com is going to show you how!

A long time resident of the Boston area, Kathy firmly believes that everyone should learn to cook and that starting with simple straight forward recipes is a great way to begin. Launched in November of 2006, StartCooking.com delivers a constant stream of blog posts and video podcasts that walk the viewer through everything from making meatloaf, to how to microwave salmon, to the basic tools you should have in your kitchen.

"Eating is not optional. Why not make the most of something you will be doing every day for the rest of your life?", says Kathy Maister the host and creator of the series. She always chooses recipes that are simple and straight forward that once you have mastered you can move on to other dishes. She likes to choose comfort foods that everyone will love to make and eat. They serve as a great platform to learn to cook on.

Kathy has been passionate about cooking, food, and teaching for as far back as she can remember. Kathy's lifelong dream has been to inspire people who have never cooked before to say: "I can do that!" Born and raised in Massachusetts, Kathy graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a major in Home Economics, then moved to Boston and became a Home Ec teacher. When cutbacks meant no more budget for Home Economics classes, Kathy was afraid her dream of teaching cooking was gone forever. But, through the power of new media she realized that she could teach to more people then a single class room could ever reach and StartCooking.com was born. Upon seeing the first completed episode Kathy was heard saying, "Perfect! My dream is finally becoming a reality."

Quick, informative and easy to master are what the Tips and Tricks series of videos are geared towards. Rather then the usual full blown recipes, they are short videos highlighting skills that will be needed to learn to cook. The first one shows how to boil eggs. Sounds simple and easy, but if you have never done it then it can be daunting. In sixty seconds you can go from not knowing how to do it, to being a pro at it. That is the goal.

In the six months since StartCooking.com has launched, viewers have checked in from around the world. The number of subscribers to the show (which can be done for free through the website or online using tools such as iTunes) has seen a steady incline which has potential sponsors and partners reaching out on a regular basis. Currently the show is in talks with several cutting edge technology companies to bring StartCooking.com to an even larger audience through multiple new channels. Because of the diverse and growing audience the show is a perfect outlet for a media buy from a variety of consumer products.

"I want StartCooking.com to be the go-to place for anyone who wants to learn to cook.", says Kathy Maister and the launch of the Tips and Tricks series is just another way to make that a reality.
